Barcelona’s signing Vitor Roque from Paranaense has proven to be surplus to requirements.
The 19-year-old striker signed from Paranaense in a 7.5-year deal that seemed promising. He has been coached by both Xavi Hernández and Hansi Flick, but has failed to convince neither of his needed prominence as a regular in the first team.
Several clubs, including Everton and Bournemouth, have been reported interested in acquiring his services, either on loan or as on a permanent deal.
According to Spanish news outlet, Relevo, Lisbon-based Sporting CP have been the team most keen on signing Roque, with sporting director Deco even having gone to Portugal personally to directly hold talks with the club.
Roque’s salary has reportedly been an issue, but Sporting have not held back and continue to negotiate as they would like a deal that suits all parties. Roque himself is said to be keen on the move.
The deal in question is for about 20 million euros in fixed sum plus add-ons from Sporting’s side, with Barcelona having bought him for about 30 million euros, and the next few hours could be crucial in locking the deal down, reports Relevo.
Roque’s contract with Barcelona runs out in 2031.
