After having won and experienced everything at Barça, team captain, Vicky Losada will leave FC Barcelona after 16 years.
This Friday, 4th of June, Vicky Losada held a press conference in which she officially stated that she will leave the club. During the event, she was accompanied by many important people. Her teammates where present, as well as Lluís Cortés and the Vice-president Rafa Yuste.
This is what she had to say:
Her official announcement
“I am here to announce that this will has been my last season at the club. I arrived 16 seasons ago at the age of 14 and everything I have experienced as a Barça player has made me the happiest person in the world.”
“I am fortunate to be here saying goodbye to what is and will always be my home. I am grateful and for that I thank the club for respecting and understanding me in all my stages, colleagues, people who have shared the day to day at the club.”
Even though Losada still has one more year of contract with the club, she has decided to leave. She has not had as many minutes as she would probably like during the season.
“It has been a decision, the most difficult of my life, thought for a long time and with many tears looking for a way to continue here, but I have to be honest with myself and with you. The time has come to close this cycle, it has been a wonderful year.”
“It is very difficult for me, but you have to know when it’s time to end a cycle and be happy. I want to enjoy football, football is not only what you see on Sundays, I want to get up and enjoy the road.”
After spending 16 years at Barcelona, Vicky Losada feels a very special connection towards the club.
“I’ll be back, I don’t know how, even for a cup of coffee. It’s my home, I feel like I have many years of football left, I don’t know the future, but I will always feel that this is my home and that makes me very happy.”
