As part of the return of the UEFA Champions League and Europa League, UEFA will include protocols to ensure the safety of everyone involved.
Thursday evening, UEFA announced that several ties of the round of 16 of its European tournaments will take place at the respective teams’ home grounds.
As a result of that, UEFA also stated that certain protocols would have to be followed to ensure the safety of everyone involved.
They have dubbed their protocol the Return to Play Protocol, and it ‘sets out the framework of sanitary and hygiene-related procedures’ also in relation to the preventive tests, ‘as well as operational protocols that will be applied when staging UEFA competition matches’, the statement reads.
UEFA added that it will be mandatory for clubs and associations, including their staff members and players alike to comply with the protocol as well as any further guidelines provided by the entity as a prerequisite for being allowed participation in the European competitions.
