Despite a good start from Barça B they found themselves hanging on for a draw against UCAM Murcia
The opening 11 minutes was filled with excitement. It took just five minutes to open the scoring. Matheus Pereira from outside of the box found the top left corner with a beautiful curler.
But the celebrations would be short lived as Barça B would score again, this time it would just happen to be in their own net. Not even two minutes later a miscommunication between Lazar Carevic and Moussa N’Diaye led to N’Diaye heading a cross into his own net.
Before the shock of such an error could even truly set in Ilias Akhomach put the blaugrana back in front with an unbelievable solo run.
Akhomach was able to go through two Murcia defenders and find the bottom left corner of the net with a tidy finish. An entertaining opening to the match, nonetheless.
As the half continued it looked as if Barça B were on the front foot. They kept pushing forward and cutting off counters relatively easily. They were much closer to a third than Murcia were to a second.
Aside from the own goal, the first 30’ belonged to Barça B, and then Carevic was finally called upon to make a save.
The remainder of the half seemingly belonged to UCAM Murcia as if Barça B had gotten comfortable with their one goal lead and switched off.
Despite leading at half, the tide had seemed to switch.
A forgettable second half
UCAM Murcia came out of the break looking for an equalizer and they would get it early. In the 58’ minute Xemi Fernandez got his head on the end of a corner after losing Matheus who was marking him.
After the equalizer, Murcia seemed content with a draw. They didn’t just sit back and defend but they weren’t pushing for a third. In fact, after the equalizer, the creation of chances was slim from both sides.
Barça B would create some.
Jordi Escobar would make a solid run and if it weren’t for Biel Ribas getting a hand to the ball it would have surely put Barça B back in front.
Ribas would then again make a great save to deny Akhomach a last second winner, but the rest of the half consisted of sloppy midfield play from both sides and no real danger.
Barça B extend their winless streak to three games and hope to correct their form against 19th place UE Costa Bravo on Tuesday.
