This week, the first meeting was held to extend the contract of Barça B youth midfielder Nico González, whose contract runs out on June 30.
According to SER Catalunya, the first renewal meeting between FC Barcelona and Nico González’s agent was held this week, to extend the contract of the 19-year-old Barça B midfielder, which expires on June 30.
Although the negotiations are still in the initial phase and the talks will continue over the next few weeks, sources from Barça have pointed out that there was good harmony and predisposition between both parties in the first meeting.
Nico González, despite being young in age, is already a Barça B player and has been the revelation of García Pimienta’s team this season. The defensive pivot, son of the legendary Fran, a former Deportivo player, has established himself in the second team and has also aroused the interest of Ronald Koeman, who has already brought him up to train on occasions with the first team.
Although he has not made his debut with the first team yet, Nico has played 20 games with the reserve team and has provided two assists this season. In addition, he has stood out for his versatility since he can play as a midfielder, but also as an interior, central or right-back.
Mateu Alemany and Ramon Planes met with Nico’s representatives yesterday to discuss a possible renewal. Barça want Nico to play the pre-season with the first team and see him as the replacement for Busquets down the line. The player wants to stay and the club are quite positive on reaching an agreement for a renewal soon.
