Barcelona representatives will be travelling to Qatar in the next 48 hours to complete the deal that will mean Al-Sadd coach and Barcelona icon Xavi Hernandez will become the new Barça head coach, Mundo Deportivo reports.
Sergi Barjuan, Barça’s interim manager, had his first press conference before Saturday’s league game against Deportivo Alavés with President Laporta also being present.
Former FC Barcelona captain and midfielder Xavi Hernandez has been given permission to leave Qatari Stars League side Al Sadd to rejoin the Catalan club as manager.
Although Koeman still seems to have at least one game, Laporta is already looking at possible replacements and now sees Xavi as an option.

ESPN reported on Monday that the future of FC Barcelona manager Ronald Koeman past the end of the season is in doubt among Barça’s board.

Presidential candidate Víctor Font’s entourage have reacted to a letter written by Xavi, saying they believe Xavi will join Barça immediately if Font wins the elections.
The Dutch national team manager is currently in pole position to take over the Barça job.
