Nélson Semedo agrees to enter the swap deal with Miralem Pjanic as reports state the Bosnian edges ever closer to Barcelona.
The rumour mill in Catalonia never stops and as we’re slowly but surely approaching the opening of the summer transfer window, Barcelona are working hard to secure new signings.
According to a recent report by Mundo Deportivo, Nélson Semedo agrees to enter the swap deal with Miralem Pjanić since he doesn’t feel indisputable at the Camp Nou going into his third season with the team.
Of course, initially, the Bianconeri wanted Arthur Melo to join them but since the Brazilian is adamant at staying at the club, the Portuguese right-back might be a solution for that problem.
If the same report is to be believed, Semedo has been asking for a new contract with a much improved salary for the past weeks and it does seem like both the club and the player are willing to part ways at this point in their relationship.
Jorge Mendes, Semedo’s agent, is trying to reach a definitive agreement between the Italians and the Catalans and the Portuguese right-back could suddenly become a key figure in the whole operation Pjanić.
But Mundo Deportivo also state that Semedo liked the idea of going to Manchester City more than the notion of being included in the deal to bring Lautaro Martínez to Barça, but also feels great about joining Juventus.
Add to that the fact that Barcelona will have to pay an additional five million euros to Benfica if Semedo plays at least 45 minutes in each of the next seven games and suddenly, their willingness to cut him loose does not come as a big surprise.
The common idea, as Mundo Deportivo state, is to close the deal before June 30, as both teams would benefit from that greatly. Only time will tell, though.
