Ronald Araujo’s entourage have categorically shot down any rumors linking the Uruguayan defender to a move away to Bayern.
At the start of this season, Ronald Araujo was appointed one of Barcelona’s four club captains. The Uruguayan receives this accolade following seasons of impressive performances and mental fortitude, and has continued his fine displays in recent matches for the Blaugrana.
Naturally, the rumor mill begins to churn out rumors in an attempt to perhaps destabilize the Catalan entity, and on Friday, this was no different.
Sky Germany released a report stating that Thomas Tuchel, Bayern Munich’s head coach, himself, had been in telephonic contact with Ronald Araujo and his people in an attempt to lure the Uruguayan defender to Bavaria. This was tied together with a reportedly huge interest from Bayern Munich in acquiring Araujo’s services.
Saturday, these rumors were shot down by the Uruguayan’s entourage.
When asked by Spanish news outlet SPORT, sources close to the player categorically denied the report, even stating that the rumors of a phone call between Ronald and people close to Bayern were completely false.
Moreover, the player is deemed a central figure at the Catalan club and he himself remains fully focused on bringing the Catalans to success.
The Uruguayan recently had his contract renewed until 2026 including a whopping 1 billion euro release clause.
