Saudi Arabia’s offer to Marc André ter Stegen is from Al-Ittihad.
Al-Ittihad Wants Marc-André ter Stegen. The Arab team, led by Ramón Planes in its sporting direction, has made an offer to the Barcelona goalkeeper, according to Jorge Picon from Relevo.
Ter Stegen has already regained his position as a starter at Barcelona after recovering from a back injury that sidelined him for over two months this season, but he has returned to starting in the Blaugrana goal. In total, the German has only played 16 out of 26 league games for this reason.
At 31 years old, Ter Stegen has always felt very comfortable in Barcelona, where he has established himself as one of the best goalkeepers in the world.
However, the arrival of an offer from Saudi Arabia may make him reconsider his career. With a contract at Barcelona until 2028, the club’s financial situation is not ideal. Thus, a hypothetical million-dollar sale of one of their key assets would be of great help in balancing the books in the future.
The interest from Arabia comes with Ramón Planes at the forefront, who was at Barcelona between 2018 and 2021, serving as assistant to Éric Abidal and later as the club’s technical secretary.
Currently, Al-Ittihad is 5th in the Saudi league but 22 points behind the leader, Al-Hilal. Among its ranks are players with stars who have made a career in European football such as Karim Benzema, Fabinho, Kanté, or Luiz Felipe.
