Former Barcelona coach Quique Setién has released an official statement in which he has clarified several things related to his dismissal.
Quique Setién was released from his duty as a Barcelona coach after the heavy defeat in Champions League against Bayern Munich. A month after his sacking, he has released an official statement to clarify some things. He states,
“We, Quique Setien, Eder Sarabia, Jon Pascua, and Fran Soto, would like to communicate that, due to the latest information that was being published regarding our contract with the club, we want to make the following clarification:
After a month of absolute silence from the FC Barcelona board of directors, and after various requests from us, it was not until yesterday that we finally received the first official communications, via burofax. These communications reveal the clear intention of the board, to not comply with their employment contracts, dated 01/14/2020.
In my case, Quique Setién, it is public and well known that on August 17, both the Club and the President announced my dismissal with immediate effect. However, it was not until yesterday, September 16 (a month later), when they sent me, for the first time, the written communication of the said dismissal but without any settlement.
With respect to rest of my team, they informed us, yesterday, to our surprise, about a ‘future relocation’ in the club.
In the end, we have been forced to take the matter of conflict resolution to our lawyers and we will be taking the required legal actions in order to preserve our rights and the contract details that had been agreed with FC Barcelona.”
