Dani Olmo joins Barça as their first official summer signing, and landed in Barcelona Tuesday night with Deco and his agents.
The 26-year-old midfielder joins from RB Leipzig, for a sum reported to be around 60 million euros including variables depending on performances.
Following weeks of intensive negotiations, the player remained willing to join Barcelona, and the clubs reached an agreement meaning Olmo signs a 6-year deal with the Catalans. He could be the last midfield signing for the time being, as hinted by head coach Hansi Flick Tuesday night.
Barca just finished their US tour, and ended it with a loss to Milan, and are on their way from Baltimore. They flew back aboard an Aruban charter flight operated by the Swiss charter airline Comlux, and left Baltimore, Maryland at 12:19am EDT, an hour and 19 minutes later than expected.
The player will join up with his new teammates in Barcelona towards the end of the week, and is expected to meet up with Hansi Flick and the squad on Friday. Dani, his father Miguel, agents Andy Bara and Juanma López and sporting director Deco all landed in Barcelona Tuesday night.
The player has signed his contract and will wear the number 20 shirt left behind by Sergi Roberto, as confirmed at his closed doors presentation in Barcelona Friday afternoon.
