Barcelona has good news with the renewals of Pina and Cata, but could not sign Linda Caicedo, one of the most coveted jewels on the market.
Barcelona is cruising in calm waters. Everything is happy and peaceful waiting for the next matchday against Villarreal (5/3) in the Iberdrola and against Roma for the UEFA Women’s Champions League (21/3). Although all eyes are on the aforementioned matches, the truth is that Barça had good news this last week and it was the contract renewals of Claudia Pina and Cata Doll, both players with a contract until 2026. The culé fans have added another joy by keeping two key players on the squad.
Caicedo: A story without a happy ending
Linda Caicedo was a wish for the biggest clubs of Europe. The 18-year-old Colombian forward became a true gem and was contacted by Barcelona, Real Madrid, and Chelsea. Madrid ended up with the services of the former Deportivo Cali player, who landed a few days ago to sign her contract. The signing of Caicedo had been longed even by the president of FC Barcelona, Joan Laporta, who said “she is our objective”.
Villarreal, the short-term goal
Barcelona will face Villarreal for the twentieth date of the Iberdrola League. The game will be on Sunday, March 8 at the Estadi Johan Cruyff (12:00 p.m.). The Blaugranas will seek to add three points and maintain (or extend) the five-point lead against Real Madrid, who will face the weak Alhama.
