As Monaco face Barcelona in the Joan Gamper, the French outfit want to enquire further about Mikayil Faye.

Barcelona’s pre-season preparations have been somewhat of a rollercoaster. After a saga that ended with Dani Olmo’s homecoming, Nico Williams’ future remains in the air after the 22-year-old chose the number 10 shirt for Athletic Club ahead of the new season.

In terms of sales, Julian Araujo is the first one to leave, after captain Sergi Roberto, as the Mexican joins Bournemouth for a 10 million euro deal. The deal is expected to be made official soon, as Araujo landed in England last night ahead of his medicals for the Cherries today.

One player who has been rumored to gather interest is the young Mikayil Faye who joined Barcelona merely one summer ago, moving to Barcelona Atlètic from Croatian side NK Kustosija Zagreb.

The Senegalese 20-year-old has impressed Hansi Flick and his staff in pre-season, but due to Barcelona’s financial constraints could be on his way out.

According to multiple reports, the talented defender has garnered interest from multiple clubs: Rennes in Ligue 1, willing to offer 10 million euros, Porto, who would have to sell a few players first, and Monaco. The latter are facing Barcelona in the Joan Gamper trophy game Monday night, and want to further talks regarding Mikayil Faye.

On Barcelona’s end, they’re open to a sale, but are looking for a set-up similar to when they sold Jean-Clair Todibo, who now finds himself at West Ham: a buy-back clause included or a sell-on clause.

The youngster’s contract with Barcelona runs out in 2027.
