Memphis Depay analyzed the situation of Barça this Saturday in an interview with several media outlets based in Asia. The Dutch striker called for unity as the club faces a lot of criticism arising from the 3-0 defeat against Bayern in the Champions League.

On the match against Bayern :
“Obviously the result against Bayern was disappointing. We have to learn from the defeat and we have to all row in the same direction to reverse the situation. But I firmly believe that we will find a way to fight for all the titles. We are Barça and I want to help the club to reverse this complicated situation. We want to face any rival. We will work and train hard to compete. I think we will surprise many teams with our performance. With the players we have, we can play good football.”
On the young players of the squad :
“We have many games ahead of us. The young players are prepared to take advantage of opportunities. They have a lot of quality and, furthermore, they are coming in very hard to improve. And the most important thing is that they enjoy each game.”
On his initial days at Barça :
“I am very happy to have arrived in Barcelona, a very beautiful city where I want to showcase my talent. It is one of my favorite places and I have come to win games and give my best for the team. From the first day I arrived, I felt welcome. The club has given me a lot of confidence. The dressing room has been very friendly and we all respect each other. It is one of the strengths of the squad. The reception of the fans in my first game at the Camp Nou was amazing, a dream come true. But it is only the beginning because I want to achieve many things with Barça. It is an honor to play for FC Barcelona, I am enjoying it. I enjoy every day being at this great club, which has a lot of history and incredible fans.”
On his performance so far :
“I have started well, but I have to continue playing well. However, I have not yet reached my best level. I feel good, in shape, and I want to keep improving. I want to continue contributing goals and assists. I want to show my ambition on the field. I never have numbers in my head, I just want to make sure I work, score a lot, and distribute a lot of assists. On a personal level, I think it will be a good season, but also for the team.”
On Ronald Koeman :
“He knows me very well because we have worked together in the Dutch national team. I have confidence in his philosophy and in the way he wants to play. We know the difficult situation we are in and we want to compete to the fullest, we need to be together and work. The entire technical team is prepared to bring out the best in us, to give us confidence, and bring out the best in us in each game. The truth is that I feel comfortable, I have a coach who gives me a lot of freedom and confidence. He expects a lot from me and I will restore his confidence with work. I work very well with Koeman and the entire squad respects him because he is a figure with a lot of history.”
On getting new tattoos :
“Tattoos are part of my body, my life, and my image. We will fight for LaLiga and for the Champions League, and if we succeed, I will see if I can find any space to tattoo the titles.”
