Talks about the contract renewal of Barça’s talismanic goal keeper were halted due to the pandemic, but they have now restarted. According to ESPN, the German is on the verge of signing a contract extension with the Catalan club until 2025.
An extension and improvement to ter Stegen’s contract have been a long time coming, and they are now as good as done, according to sources from ESPN. In addition to a 5 year extension, ter Stegen will receive a substantial wage increase that would put him among the squad’s highest earners, per the same report.
The 28-year-old, who has made 236 appearances for Barcelona, has received offers from Chelsea, Inter Milan, and Juventus, but he has made his commitment to Barça known to these clubs, and will officially sign his new contract before the end of the month, according to ESPN.
