According to El Mundo, the total consolidated salary amounts to 511,540,545 euros. The newspaper revealed that the Argentine star has earned about 138 million per season since 2017, plus other extras for the renewal of the contract and for loyalty.
In the aftermath following this controversial publication, FC Barcelona have released an official statement, categorically denying any responsibility in the publication of Messi’s professional contract with the club.
“In view of the information published today in the newspaper El Mundo, in relation to the professional contract signed between FC Barcelona and the player Lionel Messi, the club regrets its publication given that it is a private document governed by the principle of confidentiality between the parties.

According to Rac 1, Lionel Messi will be taking legal action against El Mundo for publishing the details of his confidential professional contract with the club. His lawyers are preparing a lawsuit against the newspaper and are studying how to involve club people with access to his contract. Messi’s lawyers are also studying to sue Josep Maria Bartomeu, Oscar Grau and Carles Tusquets.
