Barça B lose for the fifth time in their last six matches
The match started off as one would have expected it to. Barça B was taking on a club at the very bottom of the table while playing in front of their home crowd at the Estadi Johan Cruyff.
In control of possession, breaking through Betis’ high press and forcing them back. Although there was a clear lack of chances being created it felt comfortable.
But that’s where part of the problem arose for Barça B today. Like throughout most of the season, the 4-3-3 was very static and predictable. Made very evident with it taking 23’ minutes for Barça B to finally get a chance at goal.
A very good chance in which Illias Akhomach sent just wide off an attempted half volley.
Just two minutes later, Betis get their first chance to attack in the Barça B half. It results in a brilliant ball from Antonio Marchena to Moha Sanhaji who beautifully put it away from a difficult angle.
Barça B would go into the half down 1-0, with one chance created and in search for answers.
A quick start to the second half
Three minutes into the second half, Barça B would answer. With a goal from Aleix Garrido on his first start for the club. A big moment not only for Aleix but also for the club. A moment that would be short lived as Betis retook the lead three minutes later.
A cheeky flick from Jose Lara found a bolting Raul Tavares who got just enough on it to beat Arnau Tenas and shock Barça B.
Although Barça B would chase an equalizer and would control possession for the majority of the remaining half, chances would come rare.
It took until the 86’ minute to get any glimpse of any sort of chance when Estanis Pedrola nearly made something out of nothing but it would sadly result in nothing. The best chance at an equalizer would come in the very last minute when a header was cleared off the line by Betis keeper Daniel Rebollo.
Barça B has had some low points throughout this season but giving the worst team in the league their first win since October 30 may be their lowest.
