According to Mundo Deportivo, FC Barcelona president, Joan Laporta, will sit down to have a talk with four important players from the dressing room regarding their salary and future at this club.
After a horrendous end to the league title hopes for the Catalans this season, the president of the club has begun his preparations for the next season. Joan himself knows that the transition to a world class team would be a difficult task, with the financial troubles the club has been facing amid the COVID-19 pandemic. But the former in charge of the sextuple winning Barça side is determined to make the most out of the situation.
As per Mundo Deportivo’s report, the president plans to sit down with several players like Sergi Roberto, Gerard Piqué, Antoine Griezmann and Sergio Busquets to analyse the current situation of these players at the club. Laporta will ask the players to lower their salary and make them clear about not being “untouchable status players” in the dressing room anymore.
Some of the older players can also be asked to leave the club honorably at the end of this season. While the club thinks that players like Antoine Griezmann, who signed for the Blaugranas in 2019 and has a contract till 2024 haven’t performed to the level of Barça and could leave if a good offer arrives this summer.
Joan Laporta also has few more names like Neto, Umtiti, Junior, Pjanić, Coutinho, Braithwaite and Matheus to his list, as this summer could be turn out to be one of the busiest transfer window in the Catalan club’s history.
