Montpellier’,’s Olympic medalist Joris Chotard is likely to leave his club after his sixth and final season at La Paillade, in which he suffered a succession of injuries. A number 6 by vocation, the French midfielder talked about Barça and Sergio Busquets in a recent interview with Flashscore, “I discovered football during the great Barça era”.

Chotard explains the influence that team had on his game “that’s when I realized a lot about the pitch, about the importance of positioning. In general, when you see a number 6 like Busquets or, in another style, N’Golo Kanté , who has great projection with the ball at his feet, you realize that this role has evolved a lot”, as he concludes, “It’s interesting because it diversifies the roles we play in.”

The Frenchman was coached by former Barça player Thierry Henry in France’s U21 National Team, as now Henry is in the shortlist to replace Deschamps as a manager of the 2018 world champions, Chotard explains what the Arsenal legend is like: “He has that natural charisma that makes him not raise his voice to make things clear. His words carry a lot of weight in the locker room, and that’s one of the reasons we’ve come so far.”
