Jandro Orellana is close to making his return to FC Barcelona B after temporarily leaving the club in the summer transfer window.
According to Spanish newspaper Sport, FC Barcelona is close to reaching an agreement that would see Orellana return to the club. The deal could even be announced as early as today. The new contract would keep the midfielder at the club for this season and include an option for two extra years.
The 21-year-old went through the ranks of Barça’s academy La Masía and represented Spain’s youth teams. After winning the UEFA Youth League in 2018, Orellana suffered a serious injury that meant he didn’t get promoted to Barça B. However, two years later, he replaced Oriol Busquets (who left on loan) and eventually became a successful starter for the B team.
Although Orellana performed well last season, the clause in his contract that would keep him at the club for another two years wasn’t triggered. This meant that he was a free agent, and he tried to find a Segunda División club to further his career. After it became clear that Jandro hadn’t found a club yet, FC Barcelona resumed negotiations for a new contract.
It has been about two months since Orellana left the club, but he has been working with a personal coach to stay fit. Barça B started the season yesterday at the Estadi Johan Cruyff with a 1-1 draw against Algeciras.
