Doubts over Ilaix Moriba’s continuation at Barcelona further accentuated as Barcelona have ruled out renewing Ilaix Moriba’s contract. Barring an unexpected turn in the process, the management has stopped counting on Moriba’s renewal, reports Mundo Deportivo.
Moriba had been omitted as a first-team player and kept as a subsidiary from the start of the pre-season. Barcelona have been rigid on their stance, and the 18-year-old will only be registered to the first team setup once an agreement is reached between the parties. With the initial deadline of agreement from the club side being tomorrow, Barcelona will start listening to offers then after.
The club will be waiting for offers, through Moriba’s agent, to be transferred in the summer transfer window. As things stand, there has been no contact made by from the player’s side.
Regarding offers, Chelsea have emerged as the most interested ones, followed by Manchester City and Olympique de Marseille. It can be understood that Moriba might attract interest from Bundesliga, where his representative agency has well-maintained contacts.
The midfielder made 14 appearances, including 4 starts, for Barcelona in 2020/21, impressing Ronald Koeman and fast-tracking his development from the ranks.
