Barcelona head coach Hansi Flick has brought new optimism to the Blaugrana faithful, stating that Pedri could feature against Valencia.

On the back of an injury representing his country, Pedri could well be on the pitch for Barcelona against Valencia, having missed out on any preseason action. Hansi Flick confirmed that in his 12:30pm press conference on Friday.

“He’s a special player and he can change matches. He could be an option for the second half. He can help us a lot,” Flick explained.

The German coach is hopeful ahead of his first official LaLiga fixture as Barcelona manager.

“I believe in this team. There’s a great atmosphere [around the club] and everyone knows what they have to do. We are a strong team with a quality in possession and without it. We are working continuously towards winning. I hope we see a good show and we can win against Valencia,” he continued.

Flick was also full of praise for Valencia and coach Rubén Baraja who switched over from Real Valladolid in February of last year.

“It won’t be an easy game given Valencia are a good team who play attacking football. We are really looking forward to this first game; it will be special,” Flick told the press.

No Olmo, no party

Dani Olmo is yet to be registered as a Barcelona player with LaLiga and as such cannot feature at the Mestálla this time around. Flick, however, stated that Olmo still is a new player and needs to get used to his surroundings to be able to best help his teammates.

“He’s not an option for tomorrow as he has not trained much. First he has to train to be able to help us,” Hansi Flick concluded.

Hansi Flick ecently put pen-to-paper on a deal with Barcelona that will see him through as Blaugrana until 2026, taking over from homegrown legend Xavi Hernández, currently between jobs.
