Juventus outcast Federico Chiesa is on his way out of Turin, and with several clubs interested, he wants Barcelona.
Under former long-time coach Max Allegri, Chiesa slowly faded out of the Juventus side of which he once was a prominent figure. Joining the Vecchia Signora back in 2022 after a successful loan spell from Fiorentina, he slowly became a regular for Juventus. In came Andrea Pirlo, injuries, and then a return of Allegri, and Chiesa’s time in retrospect has been more turbulent than he would have liked.
An ACL injury shortly after the new year in 2022 kept him sidelined until October, and he has since had a hard time finding a run of form, with the coaches preferring other options. Since his return, he has seen a lot of playing time, but has not looked like his former self, lacking that sharpness that once used to define him on the pitch.
The 26-year-old now finds himself on the chopping block at Juve, according to reports, and Barcelona, among other clubs are said to be interested. Manchester United, Chelsea with already over 40 players in their squad, and fellow Serie A side Inter Milan have all enquired about the player.
Recent reports suggest that the winger prioritizes Barcelona over the other interested clubs. He is even willing to take a pay-cut, and has put the other offers on hold in favor of a move to Catalonia. Talks are underway between clubs and player and are progressing positively, and Barcelona are said to be willing to table 10 to 15 million euros to Juventus for his transfer.
Chiesa’s contract with Juventus runs out next year, hence the Bianconeri being willing to part ways with him for a small sum now, rather than renew his contract or lose him on a free in the summer of 2025.
