FC Barcelona Femení Updates and Transfer News.

FC Barcelona Femení rarely makes winter moves and this window is no exception. However, this has not kept them from the transfer news cycles. Especially now that it is an open secret that they might be on the market for a defensive midfielder. Here is a small update and a look into a few of the rumors

Ingrid Engen.

As reported by Blaugranagram via X and Bluesky, sources tell us there is some external interest in Ingrid Engen – mostly within Europe. However, the club is not particularly worried. Officials believe that Engen wants to stay and they’re hoping to strike and announce a deal as soon as possible.

Yasmin Mrabet and Aida Esteve.

Barcelona Femení could potentially eye two of Valencia’s midfield gems amid their rough patch. Valencia Femenino is struggling. There has been growing discontent between the manager and players, along with the desire for January signings. Whether they try to improve their position or cut their losses and sell is in the balance.

So, entering Barça’s radar are Yasmin Mrabet – a defensive midfielder – and perhaps bringing Aida Esteve back to the B team. It might be a better prospect for Aida than Mrabet. Valencia are likely to get relegated so they would be playing in the Primera anyway. It would be interesting for Esteve to come to Barça B, so she can grow as a player, with the added bonus of being in her hometown.

Mrabet would most likely be a benchwarmer for the team because of the players FC Barcelona already have in midfield. This would potentially risk her chances with the Moroccan National Team that she plays for. She definitely does not want that.

Teresa Abelleira to Barça?

The real shocker is Tere Abelleira potentially leaving Real Madrid CF Femenino. She has been sidelined a lot more at the club than usual and has also been losing out with Spain now that Patri has returned.

This has opened up a window that FC Barcelona, could be exploring. Either over this winter window or the summer.

If she did sign with Barça, she would be considered a direct replacement for Walsh. Pere would need someone to slot straight in like they have always been there, and Teresa hasn’t been ruled out – transfer history with Real Madrid, or lack thereof – notwithstanding.
