Barcelona to make a decision on the kit sponsor.
The future sponsor of Barcelona’s jersey remains uncertain. The Catalan club is weighing three possibilities: sticking with Nike, switching to Puma, or establishing their own brand. In recent days, each option has been closely scrutinized in an effort to reach a final decision as soon as possible. Following several meetings in recent weeks, today it was Puma’s turn. President Joan Laporta, Vice President Rafa Yuste, along with Manana Giorgadze, head of the president’s office, met with a delegation from the German brand led by CEO Arne Freundt, as revealed by Gerard Romero of Jijantes.
The future of the Blaugrana jersey is uncertain because the club is not satisfied with its current relationship with Nike, the current sponsor with whom they have a contract until 2028. Barcelona is considering the possibility of parting ways with the American brand due to a strong offer from Puma, but they are hesitant to bear the costs of terminating the contract with Nike.
The third option would be an in-house brand. Initially, this possibility was set aside due to logistical reasons, but currently, it seems it could be pursued through Hummel.
Barcelona is racing against the clock. The jersey for the 2024-25 season, which is already approved, would be made by Nike, which is currently in production. However, in March, approval must be given for the design of the 2025-26 season, and it remains to be seen which brand will be chosen.
