30 years old. Two Olympic medals. Two FIFA World Cup appearances. Two Women’s Champions League trophies with Barcelona. Three Spanish league titles. During the summer of 2021, Barcelona Femení announced the signing of Swedish international Fridolina Rolfö from prestigious German club VfL Wolfsburg for 2 years. Rolfö stands at 1.78 meters tall, or 5 feet 8 inches, with engaging abilities at the forward position. Often spotted in a light blonde ponytail with a bright smile for teammates and fans, Rolfö hails from the municipality of Kungsbacka and is described as “a left winger who can play as a striker due to her power, pace and nose for goal”.

Turning professional in 2008, Rolfö brings experience from playing domestically for clubs in Sweden and Germany, not to forget making over 80 appearances for country. Brought to Barcelona in July 2021, the Blaugrana club had recently come fresh off of their first ever UEFA Women’s Champions League title against Chelsea FC that May. Rolfö’s resume included participating in a Women’s Champions League final the year before that, unfortunately falling short with VfL Wolfsburg in 2020. Throughout her tenure at Wolfsburg, Rolfö made 43 appearances with 12 goals scored and secured multiple league trophies. Not yet fluent in Spanish at the time, Rolfö still managed to find her feet as a Culer in 2021-2022. As an individual, Rolfö’s range and skillset would inevitably help Barcelona Femení climb the Champions League ladder once again.

After scoring her first goal for Barcelona in September of 2021 against Real Betis, blink, click your feet together and suddenly in the flash of an eye in October of 2024, Rolfö has accumulated 100 appearances and 34 goals. Things must be going well because even though her two year contract initially ended in 2023, Rolfö has extended long term to stay until 2026. Almost always a game starter, Barcelona fans and media admire her Swedish sense of sensibility and visionary vivacity. While celebrating in the locker room with an honorary jersey after a league victory against Valencia CF, which means that Barça stay atop Liga F, this photo was shared on social media.

To quote the Swedish language, “Tack så mycket” Fridolina.
