Barcelona managerial target Hansi Flick is being targeted by his former club Bayern Munich.
The choice for the future successor of Xavi Hernández remains uncertain, with several candidates potentially taking over the helm of Barça next season. According to Jordi Batalla of Mundo Deportivo, one of the names that has been strongly linked to the position is Hansi Flick, and just a few days ago it was suggested that he would be eager to take on the challenge of managing the Blaugrana team.
However, the latest reports coming from Germany indicate otherwise. According to the newspaper ‘Bild’, some executives at Bayern Munich are contemplating Hansi Flick’s return due to the recent poor results under Thomas Tuchel.
It’s even been mentioned that Uli Hoeness, honorary president of the Bavarian club, has reached out to Flick to gauge his interest in returning. The report states that Flick is awaiting updates at his home on Lake Tegernsee and has also been flattered by Barcelona’s alleged interest in him replacing Xavi. Bayern still holds fond memories of Flick’s tenure on the sidelines, particularly for winning the sextuple in 2020. If there’s no expected improvement in the team’s performance under Tuchel in the upcoming matches, a coaching change could be on the horizon.
It’s worth noting that Hansi Flick has been without a team since being dismissed as the German national team coach last September and could sign with any team in this final stretch of the season.
