Barcelona push for the transfer of Lautaro Martínez as Inter eye Rafinha Alcantara as a potential player to be included in the deal.
The Catalans’ desire to bring the Argentine gem to the Camp Nou is hardly a secret at this point but it will be rather interesting to see how exactly do Barcelona get that deal over the line.
According to a new report by Mundo Deportivo, the club will intensify their efforts to close the transfer before the end of May and this week, in particular, could play a big role in them achieving that goal.
Of course, Lautaro is not the only player they are after and the same outlet confirms Juventus’ Miralem Pjanic is also a person of interest. As per the report, both transfer targets have given Barça their ‘OK’ and all that remains is to iron things out with their respective clubs.
As far as the Argentine is concerned, Barcelona would be willing to offer him a six-year deal, either at once or in a 5+1 format, and then a renewal with a potential pay rise three or four years into the contract.
Inter like both Arturo Vidal and Rafinha Alcantara, who’s currently out on loan at Celta Vigo but does have a clause in his contract that would allow him to leave for 16 million euros this summer once his stint with Celta comes to a close.
Of course, the younger Alcantara brother has already spent some time with the Nerazzurri back in 2017/18 but the Italian outfit decided not to activate their buy option for 35 million euros despite being impressed by his performances, as Mundo Deportivo explain as well. This could still play a role as Barcelona push for Lautaro in the immediate future.
When it comes to Pjanic, Juventus want to include Arthur Melo in the deal but the Brazilian is still reluctant to join the Serie A side. It will be up to Barcelona to somehow find a formula to bring both players to the Camp Nou.
Interestingly enough, Mundo Deportivo also note that the Catalans want to include Samuel Umtiti in either of the operations but we still don’t know if that’s going to be the case in the end.
