Barcelona are open to offers for Alejandro Balde.
Barcelona will not renew Marcos Alonso’s contract, which expires on June 30th, but the emergence of 17 years old Hèctor Fort compensates for the absence of the Madrid-born player. According to Fernando Polo of Mundo Deportivo, the Barcelona native serves as an alternative to Joao Cancelo, who is likely to be the primary choice on the left flank during Alejandro Balde’s absence, as the latter will not play for the remainder of the season.
Initially, there are no plans to sign a left-back for the next season, but Barcelona’s strategy could change if they receive a lucrative offer for Alejandro Balde, who is attracting interest due to his promising potential at the age of 20, and if he decides to accept it.
It’s worth mentioning that Balde renewed his contract with Barcelona until 2028 last September, with a release clause of €1 billion, and he is currently recovering from a hamstring tendon injury that required surgery in Finland. If Balde departs in the summer, Barcelona’s idea would be to opt for a slightly more experienced defender.
The club has some internal options in mind as well as “domestic” choices such as Sergi Cardona of Las Palmas, who will be a free agent in June, and the possibility of recalling Álex Valle, who is on loan from Barcelona to Levante.
