RB Leipzig, after letting their interest in Ilaix Moriba known, have made their first official offer. As per Mundo Deportivo, the German side have offered €6 million for the 18-year-old.
However, the sides have failed to reach an agreement on the primary offer. The Catalan club value Moriba at €20 million and are reluctant to be flexible on the price tag.Moriba’s representatives want to seal the deal as soon as possible as only 7 days of the summer transfer window remain.
With a year’s contract left, Barcelona have already made their stance known to the player. The player will not train with and be a part of the first team until a new agreement is reached. Despite breaking into the side with impressive performances, Moriba will be demoted to the B team for a year until his contract runs out if the treansfer does not materialize.
On the other hand, Leipzig are unlikely to raise their bid. Considering that they will be getting the player for free after a season, the Germans are not interested in raising the bid amount by a significant margin. RB Leipzig’s only concern regarding this issue would be other heavyweights, including the likes of Manchester City and Chelsea joining the race to sign the player for free next year.
Similarly, it is understood that Ilaix Moriba is upset with the way he’s been treated by the club. Despite several approaches from Barcelona’s executives, the midfielder has been rigid, due to which Barcelona are planning a future without the youngster.
As things stand, Moriba will continue to train with the youth side until next July, unless a convincing offer arrives within a week.
