Gerard Piqué expresses his openness to potentially becoming president of the club in the future.
Gerard Piqué, one of the most emblematic players of the last decade, during his tenure at Can Barça, made it clear on more than one occasion that the presidency was a position he did not rule out in the future.
In an interview with Sky Sports, Piqué stated that he could have “a great impact on the club” if he ran for president, but added that now is not the right time to try it. Piqué granted an interview to the British channel on Wednesday in which he explored the possibility of becoming president of FC Barcelona in the future:
“If I can help my club… I have been a Barcelona fan since I was a child, going to Camp Nou every Sunday. If I can help in any way, I want to do it. It’s something I feel inside me,” said Piqué.
“I don’t think now is the time. I am focused on the Kings League; we are in an expansion process,” he assured about his professional moment and the competition he created just over a year ago.
“You never know in the future, but it could be an option. I never like to close doors. Being president of Barcelona is a great responsibility, but it could have a great impact on the club if I decide to try it at some point. In the future, I can explore that possibility, but not now.”
