Barcelona removes Dani Alves’s legend status.
Dani Alves has been found guilty of a sexual assault crime and has been sentenced to 4 years and 6 months in prison, in addition to being ordered to financially compensate the victim. According to Angel Perez of Mundo Deportivo, the footballer who was held in preventive custody at Brians 2 until the trial, now has a final verdict, albeit with the possibility of appeal. Recently, he has witnessed the consequences of his conviction on his reputation. One consequence seemed to be that FC Barcelona had removed him from the honorary section of their website dedicated to “historic players,” but after a mysterious disappearance, he reappeared on the website.
Until very recently, the Brazilian appeared alongside Barcelona legends such as Jordi Alba, Busquets, Piqué, Messi, Iniesta, and Luis Suárez, as the most recent additions. However, Dani Alves recently disappeared from that section, and although the club has not officially commented, the circulating version was that he was removed following his conviction.
During that time when he was absent, there was still some trace of Dani Alves’ presence in that section of the Barcelona website. When searching on the internet for the keywords ‘Dani Alves’ and ‘historic players’ linked to the club’s website address, the search results displayed a text listing Alves’ name among images that were formerly featured in that section, as can be seen in the image.
