Barça are interested in letting go of some of their players as they continue to find a way to reduce their massive wage bill. The club also needs to make way for a few more potential signings as suggested by president Joan Laporta.
After an eventful start to the summer transfer window and successfully securing the signatures of four new players, Barça are now focused on selling a few of their players. As stated by Joan Laporta, the wage bill is 110% of the club’s expected income. As a result, the club is in desperate need of selling some players to maintain balance and also to make way for few more potential signings which are not ruled out by the club.
According to Catalunya Radio, Junior Firpo, Martin Braithwaite, and Samuel Umtiti could the first ones to depart. Milan are looking for a left-back and they are interested in signing Junior and the player also seems to be in agreement with a move to Italian giants. Barça would also welcome the idea of sending the player on loan to Milan with an option to buy.
Various reports earlier this week suggested that some clubs from the Premier League such as West Ham, Burnley, Brighton, and Norwich are interested in signing Martin Braithwaite. The club is willing to part ways with the striker as he has struggled to make his mark since arriving at the club in 2020. Barça paid 18 million Euros for Braithwaite’s signing and they expect to generate 10-15 million from his sale.
Samuel Umtiti, one of the highest-paid players of the club, has had a bad run of form and luck as his last three seasons have been full of injuries and bad performances. The club is figuring out a way to loan him out and his next possible destination appears to be in the French League.
According to a lot of reports, Inter are interested in signing Jordi Alba and Barça have informed the Italian champions that they would listen to offers for the left-back. Riqui Puig’s future has also been uncertain since the end of the last season due to the lack of playing time given to the young midfielder, but the latest reports suggest that he is gonna stay at the club.
