Alexia Putellas makes long awaited return following injury.
Alexia Putellas is back. The Barcelona captain returned to the pitch wearing the Barça shirt after the injury she sustained in the match against Benfica on November 14th, which required surgery. Alexia has undergone a meticulous recovery process with the permanent premise of ‘zero risk’, aiming to return in full condition. The day arrived, and against Real Sociedad at Zubieta, for the match of the 19th league round, she felt like a footballer again stepping onto the field. After her team settled the match in the first half with a 0-4 lead thanks to a hat-trick from Salma, and with Salma herself scoring her fourth goal and Graham the team’s sixth, Giráldez substituted the captain in the 67th minute.
Alexia only needed 14 minutes and 9 seconds on the field to reconnect with scoring. She did it in the 80th minute and 23 seconds after pouncing on a loose ball in the area to secure the seventh goal. “I am very happy. I can finally do what I like the most, which is to play, compete and win. I am looking forward to adding to my tally, wanting to enjoy myself on the pitch with my teammates and above all to continue winning everything,” said Putellas.
