As the winter transfer window edges closer, and clubs plan the second half of the season, Junior Firpo has been shortlisted by various clubs.
Junior Firpo has seen little playing time in Barcelona this season, having had very few starts. In fact, Barcelona’s game against Eibar midweek was the Dominican full-back’s first start in the league for the Catalans this season.
The player himself says that he is content in Catalonia, but that has not scared clubs away. On the contrary: should Firpo look for a way out in the January transfer window, he is very unlikely to be short of suitors for his services.
According to Spanish news outlet, Mundo Deportivo, Firpo has attracted interest from two leagues: the English Premier League and the Italian Serie A. Club sources have told Mundo Deportivo that there is interest from the two leagues, albeit nothing concrete, emphasizing that the full back only leaves if the offer is financially astute and sufficient. No clubs have been mentioned by name by the sources.
The 24-year-old defender’s current contract runs out in 2024, having put pen-to-paper on a five-year-deal back in the summer of 2019.
