Barcelona’s newest signing, Miralem Pjanić, has been tested positive for the coronavirus. He has now published an open letter on social media, saying he’s asymptomatic and in good health.
Following his signing with FC Barcelona, the Bosnian midfielder, Miralem Pjanić has been tested positive for the coronavirus; the virus caused an influx of problems all around the world affecting sports and people alike.
The now former Juventus man signed with Barcelona shortly before the season ended, in a move that sent Arthur Melo the other way. The two players will be joining their new teams respectively ahead of the upcoming season.
On Sunday, the new Barcelona man tested positive for coronavirus, as announced by the Catalan club Sunday afternoon. He, however, has assured the public that he is in good health and will take all precautionary measures required to get back in action.
“I want to reassure everyone who cares about me that I am fine, and luckily I am asymptomatic,” the 30-year old Bosnian midfielder stated in a statement published on social media.
“What they teach us these days is that we cannot take anything for granted. We are calm and we respect the rules [in place to prevent a further spread of the virus]. See you soon,” Pjanić said, followed by two emoticons symbolizing his new club, FC Barcelona.
Pjanić’ contract with his new club runs out in 2024, having signed with the Catalans for 60 million euros, with a release clause of 400 million euros being tied to his name. Arthur Melo will move to Juventus for 72 million euros, and a contract until 2025.
