Francisco Trincão is one of Barça’s latest signings and the Portuguese winger talked to Barça TV+ about his move to the Catalan club to which he will arrive at the end of this season.
During the transfer market last summer, Barcelona closed the signing of a young player from SC Braga, Francisco Trincão. Barça noticed the young winger playing on Liga NOS and bet on him, paying Sporting de Braga a figure of 31 million euros, agreeing on a transfer that took effect on July 1 of this year.
Since the 20-year-old became a Barcelona player, despite not arriving at the club yet, his performances increasingly improved turning himself as one of Portugal’s most promising youngsters. After a great last campaign with Sporting Braga, Trincão is ready to prove himself at the biggest stage with Barcelona as he explains what the move means to him during an interview with Barça TV+.
“When I signed for Barça, I was speechless. It’s a proud moment and an important step for me to reach FC Barcelona.”
“Now people pay more attention to me, both on and off the field but it’s not a worry. I do the same, I work to be better every day.”
The Viana do Castelo born also shared with the Barcelona faithful his best qualities and in what he considers he can contribute to the team.
“I am very strong mentally, I look for goals and assists to help the team. I watch games to see what I have done wrong and what I have done well. I am my reference point.”
“From my game I would highlight my dribbling, goalscoring, creating goals and hard work.
“Despite preferring to play on the right, I am going to try to help the team from wherever upfront. I want to help. I want to play as much as I can to help the team and win as much as possible.”
Francisco Trincão talked about a message that his future teammate, Antoine Griezmann, sent to him and the way he is starting to settle in with the help of La Masía graduate and Braga player, Abel Ruíz.
“Antoine Griezmann sent me a message that said – Let’s go, mate – I also spoke to Nélson Semedo [portuguese partner] and that is a help for me.”
“At the start of confinement I was with Abel Ruiz and he spoke to me about the Club, the best in the world and the city. He told me that it would all work out well. Since January I have had Spanish classes and I try to practice with Abel. I also know a few words in Catalan – ‘bona tarda’, ‘fins aviat’, ‘com et dius?’…”
“I am looking forward to going back to Barcelona. I have been there before and I like the city a lot.”
As his words reflect, Trincão seems focused and confident on moving to Barcelona to enjoy the opportunity of playing for the best club in the world. According to several news outlets, the winger will be part of the first-team preseason and will stay at the club next season.
