A video of Cata Coll wandering around the center circle calmly during the recent Clásico has surfaced on social media.
On social media, there’s a viral video of Barcelona Femení goalkeeper Cata Coll going around.
No, it’s not some epic saves or fancy footwork: in the video, Coll is absently meandering along the white paint of the centre circle of the pitch, gloved hands crossed under each armpit and chin tucked down to keep warm. She’s not waiting for the team to come out and train, she’s waiting for Real Madrid Femenino to do something – anything – that would make them worthy of facing her in goal.
This video was taken mid-match during the most recent Clásico, the Supercopa final that saw Barça defeat their “eternal rivals” (neither descriptor is close to true) 5-0, equalling their biggest victory in Clásico history to take the first of potentially five titles this season.
Real Madrid haven’t put a single goal past Barça since the semi-final of the same competition over two years ago (a match Barcelona Femení still won comfortably even while down to 10 players for over an hour), so Coll was probably safely unworried as she scuffed her boots in the midfield. Because Real Madrid are only slipping backwards in terms of their sole ambition to one day maybe draw against Barça Femení.
For las Blancas, it’s embarrassing enough that the opposition goalkeeper is visibly bored during the match, but it’s utterly humiliating for said goalie to be counting blades of grass alone in the vacuous midfield, her only thought being whether to go up and join the attacking overload that already suffocated Real Madrid so thoroughly they surely now have asphyxiated out of any title contention for another few seasons.
