Pep Moratalla: “I have followed the Dani Olmo case with concern”

Former Barça player Pep Moratalla recently conceded an exclusive interview with Flashscore, where he analysed his career and the current state of the team of his life. Regarding the Dani Olmo and Pau Víctor case, the former centre-back explained that “I have been following it, because the truth is that I have a good relationship with both of them; Pau Víctor is a player that I already know from the youth categories, from when he was in Sabadell and Girona, and I also know Dani Olmo personally”, as he adds, “the truth is that I have followed the issue with concern, because I know what means not being able to stay or having the option of being left out and not being able to play and not being able to be active in the club they want to be at”.

The former player was not happy with the image the club has given in this Dani Olmo affair, “I have the feeling that the image we have given with this management is not good, we haven’t looked like a clearly organized institution”.

Moratalla, who played nearly 200 games with Barça in the 80’s, also analyses Flick’s team “I see it as irregular, with ups and downs, but in general terms I think they are performing very well, and above all what I see is that we are fortunate to count on the youth team and the youth system we have”, as he continues “it’s what helps us to be encouraged and hopeful that the future will get better and better, because the foundation is excellent, and that makes the fans very excited and think that the team can grow and have great aspirations in a short time.”

Looking back on his career, Pep Moratalla speaks in the interview about playing with Maradona, “he was two steps above the other great players at that time. He made a lot of difference. And the truth is that I have very fond memories of him. Also on a personal level, he was always close to us and supported us”,and Lineker, “the truth is that I have very good memories of him too. A sensational person and a sensational footballer.”
