Barcelona is unlikely to engage in bidding for Mason Greenwood.
Deco, Barcelona’s sporting director, met with representatives from Manchester United this past week. The Blaugrana executive dined with English sporting director John Murtaugh and negotiation director Matt Hargreaves. One of the topics discussed was Barcelona’s interest in Mason Greenwood (22 years old). The next day, they went to see him at Getafe, where he is on loan from the English club. The winger is not the top priority on Barcelona’s list.
His future seems to be pointing away from Manchester United. According to Gabriel Sans of Mundo Deportivo, it also doesn’t seem likely that he will remain with the Blaugrana. The English executives inquired about the club’s level of interest and were informed of the price, which could range between 40 and 60 million euros. Barcelona will not engage in bidding wars, and the amount is beyond their budget.
Mason Greenwood has played 26 matches so far this season with Getafe, where he has stood out with eight goals and five assists. He is one of the revelations of the season in La Liga, and his impressive performances are attracting interest from several big clubs, not only in Spain but also in the Premier League and Serie A.
