Mikayil Faye is set for the first national team call up.
Not only Pau Cubarsí will have the opportunity to debut with the national team during the upcoming international break. Mika Faye, a 19-year-old center-back for Barcelona B, who trained with the first team in the summer and was called up by Xavi for the match against Mallorca last week, also has chances. According to Roger Torello of Mundo Deportivo, the national coach, Aliou Cissé, has called up the Barcelona player to replace the injured Touré Fode Ballo (Fulham). The Senegalese coach announced a list of 31 players this Friday for the friendly matches against Gabon (March 22) and Benin (March 26), both in France.
Four young debutants appeared on that list: Amara Diouf, Habib Diarra, Seydou Sano, and Arona Sanganté, but not Mika Faye. However, Fode Ballo’s injury will open the doors for Faye, whose value is increasing day by day.
As reported by this newspaper, Barcelona rejected an offer of 9 million from Lens last January. Additionally, teams like Dortmund and Chelsea have also shown interest in the Senegalese center-back, who joined the Catalan club this past summer for only 2.2 million from NK Kustosija Zagreb.
