It was another disappointing result for Barcelona when they only managed a draw against Alaves on Saturday night.
Barcelona fans watching worldwide were hoping interim coach Sergi Barjuan would give the team an immediate improvement in results. However the new-coach-boost was nowhere to be seen as the fans had to witness a disappointing 1-1 draw.
“It’s a bitter feeling. We tried to dominate in midfield and i think we did that but with the (1-1) result, nobody is satisfied”, said head coach Sergi Barjuan after the game.
“We’ve had barely no time to work. We tried to tighten up a little defensively and offensively
“We’ve still got a lot to play for though. We’ve got to start winning.”
Barjuan’s second test as head coach will come already on Tuesday. The team will be travelling to the Ukrainian capital to face Dynamo Kiev in the Champions League. A game which, if the Catalans lose, could see them crash out of the Champions League in the group stages for the first time since the 2000/01 season.
“I’m optimistic. We’ll aim to control the game.”
“We cannot do anything about the injuries.
Many were concerned when Sergio “Kun” Aguero went off after 41 minutes. Barjuan confirmed “He told me that he was dizzy. He’s now in hospital for tests”.
Recent performances was reflected in the stadium attendance as only 37.000 fans were present in the over 99.000 capacity stadium.
Barjuan said: “The only way we’re gonna will up the stadium is if the team puts in a shift”.
Jordi Alba
“We lost two points. We find it hard to score goals but they score on the only chance they have.”
Oscar Mingueza
“We only ask for the fans to continue supporting us like last week against Madrid. That was incredible”.
