Following his injury and a turbulent recovery period, Ansu Fati had an arthroscopy revision in Porto on Thursday.
Ansu Fati has had a turbulent season in Barcelona. From being one of Barcelona’s stars with a bright future ahead and his name in the limelight, he suffered a major setback in the form of a serious injury on his left knee back in November.
Since then, the player has had to watch on from the stands while he continued his recovery that has dragged on for what seems like forever in the eyes of the Blaugrana faithful.
However, on Thursday, the club had good news up their sleeve: Ansu Fati went to the second-largest Portuguese city, Porto, to undergo a revision as part of his recovery. The arthroscopy revision was performed by Dr. Jose Carlos Noronha under the supervision of Barcelona medical staff members. The 18-year-old forward will now continue his recovery process, as announced by the Catalan side in a statement published Thursday evening.
He has missed 37 matches for the Catalans so far since his injury, and with only four games left of the current league campaign, the chances of a comeback this season for the youngster seem bleak.
Before his injury, he played in 7 games for the Catalans, scoring four goals and setting up an additional one in the process. Overall, he has played 43 games for the first team, with 13 goals and 5 assists to his name, and the player, with his creativity and speed on and off the ball, will undoubtedly add an extra edge to Ronald Koeman’s side when he returns to the pitch.
Moreover, the Barcelona camp hopes for Ansu Fati to partake in the club’s preseason preparations ahead of the team’s upcoming season, according to Onda Cero journalist Alfredo Martinez.
Fati’s current contract with his boyhood club runs out in 2022, although there is an optional clause allowing both parties to extend his stay until 2024.
