Health authorities have given the all clear for non-professional football matches to be played in front of the public again. That means 1,000 people will be allowed into the Estadi Johan Cruyff when Barça B host Cornellà on Sunday afternoon.
This coming Saturday, Barcelona will host a football game with an audience for the first time in over a year. Catalan health authorities have confirmed that up to 1,000 spectators can attend non-professional football games. This also means that Barcelona Femení will be allowed to host games with an audience. The new rules state that you’re allowed to house 50% of your stadiums capacity, but the attendance must not exceed 1,000.
Therefore, On Saturday at 6PM, Barcelona B will host UE Cornella at the Estadi Johan Cruyff with around 1,000 people in attendance. Garcia Pimienta’s men currently sit second in Spain’s third tier, and will be looking to take another step towards promotion. Sunday’s game will be the 19th and penultimate game for Barça B this season.
Barcelona are currently studying how to arrange the ticket sale. How many ticket will be reserved for fans to buy remains to be seen as the club usually gives holds off a few tickets for the players’ families and other club members. Tickets are expected to go on sale in the next day or two.
To allow this to happen, they players must follow a strict protocol. The Barca players will not be allowed to shower at the stadium, and nor will there be any press conferences or post-match interviews in the mixed zone.
There’s still no news about when the first team will be allowed to play in front of supporters at the Camp Nou. The vaccines that are currently rolling out across Spain could potentially be a chance for some fans to attend games again, but so far nothing is confirmed.
